Debut album · March 2027
JNR
Ten songs written over two winters, recorded in a room with one window. The first record, out March 2027.
The record
A first album, made slowly and on purpose.
These songs started as voice notes — half a melody hummed into a phone on the walk home, a line written on the back of a receipt. Over two winters they were pulled apart and rebuilt in a small studio with [producer / collaborator], keeping the takes that sounded like someone in a room rather than someone in a machine.
The record moves between quiet and loud without warning, which is roughly how the years it was written in went. Guitars are mostly close-miked and unpolished. Drums were tracked live, in one pass, in a hallway. Nothing here was fixed in the mix if it could be left honest instead.
Ten tracks, [runtime] minutes, out March 2027 on [label or self-released] — on vinyl and everywhere you stream.
Tracklist
Ten songs, in order.
Open any title to read what it's about. Titles and notes are placeholders until the record is finished — I'll swap in the real ones as they lock.
-
01[Track one title][3:42]
The opener, written first and finished last. It sets the room the rest of the record happens in — one guitar, one voice, and a lot of space left alone.
-
02[Track two title][4:05]
The loudest thing here. Tracked live with the whole band in one take, mistakes kept because the take was right and the clean one wasn't.
-
03[Track three title][2:58]
Short, fast, and the one that gets played live first. Written in an afternoon and never revised.
-
04[Track four title][5:11]
The long one. A slow build that never quite resolves — the middle of the record, and the song that took the most drafts.
-
05[Track five title][3:27]
Recorded at home, on a laptop, at 3am. Kept exactly as it was found.
-
06[Track six title][3:50]
The one with the most people on it — [collaborator] on backing vocals, [player] on keys. Still sounds like a small room.
-
07[Track seven title][4:22]
A song about leaving somewhere before you were ready to. Written on a train, finished a year later.
-
08[Track eight title][3:14]
Almost didn't make the record. It's now the one I'd play for someone who'd never heard any of this.
-
09[Track nine title][4:48]
Quiet, mostly voice and one sustained chord. The pause before the end.
-
10[Track ten title][6:02]
The closer. Fades out rather than stops — on purpose, so the record doesn't feel like it's over.
About
JNR
JNR is [one line about where you're from and what you do]. This is the first record under the name — before it, there were years of playing to small rooms, a handful of demos that never went anywhere, and a lot of songs that got thrown away.
The album was made with [producer / collaborator] between [year] and [year], mostly at night, mostly in one room. It was mixed by [mix engineer] and mastered by [mastering engineer].
